inventoriesAbstract
Inventories and their management have a strong impact on the supply chain and consequently on all areas of companies, particularly production. From the accounting-financial point of view when analyzing inventories there are conflicting objectives, on the one hand the satisfaction of customer demand, since they must contain as many units as can be demanded, while from the point of view of production, these they must serve to guarantee the continuity of the production process. Therefore, the current world situation shows that for the Cuban economy, efficiency and effectiveness will be key elements for success, therefore, making better use of resources and achieving better results with less costs would guarantee considerable progress in which is essential the role of inventories, in order to make the supply chain in Cuba efficient. That is why the objective of this article is to show the historical evolution of the inventory and its incidence in the supply chain, as well as to assess some definitions and how these terms are handled in Cuba today.
