Design of the Integral Index for the evaluation of eco-efficiency in Cuban banking institutions

Abstract

The banking system in Cuba immersed in the challenge of incorporating the pillars of green banking in its processes, products and services. In this order, eco-efficiency represents one of the pillars that must assumed to achieve the generation of more value with a reduction of the environmental footprint. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a methodological instrument adapted to the context of Cuban banking institutions to enable its evaluation. The purpose of this document is to systematize the methodological background using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (Prisma) method for the design of the Integral Index for the evaluation of eco-efficiency in Cuban banking institutions. A descriptive analysis of the main international and national methodologies for the evaluation of eco-efficiency in the banking system developed with the application of Prisma, which facilitated the construction of the integral index adjusted to the environment in which banking institutions operate in the country.
