Evaluation of the level of risk and control in the medium business enterprises of Guayaquil, Ecuador

Abstract

Medium business enterprises are implementing technologies in Guayaquil different processes that impact the preparation and presentation of financial information. To cover this objective, a methodological approach was established, defined in five stages, with the application of two diagnostic instruments, which include evaluation indicators based on international reference standards that facilitate the evaluation of the impacts and effects related to the intensive use of the technologies. A summary of the most relevant results in the application of the diagnostic tools used is presented.

Rubén Patricio Barberán Arboleda, Catholic University Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador

Ingeniero en Ciencias Empresariales de la Universidad Espíritu Santos y Tecnólogo en Artes Plásticas del Instituto Euroamericano. Magister en Administración de Empresas obtenido en la Universidad Espíritu Santos, con el aval académico de la Universidad Monterrey de México. Está cursando un doctorado en Contabilidad en la Universidad de La Habana, Cuba. En la Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil ha dictado en la carrera de CPA las materias de auditoría de sistemas y sistemas de información, en la carrera de Administración la materia de sistemas de Información, en la carrera de Filosofía la materia planificación estratégica y en la carrera de Distancia las materias de auditoría de sistemas, sistemas de información y computación aplicada. Es autor del libro “Auditoria de Sistemas – Enfoque metodológico”, del ebook “Sistemas de Información” para el Sistema de Educación a Distancia de la Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil, ha publicado artículos científicos en revistas nacionales (1) e internacionales (3), ha participado en diferentes ponencias internacionales (3) y nacional (1), ha dirigido proyecto de investigación del SINDE (1) y tesis de titulación (25) en las carreras de CPA y Administración y ha sido oponente (22) en tesis de titulación en dichas carreras.  Se formó en la firma de auditores externos Price waterhouse Coopers en auditoría de sistemas y reingeniería de procesos, ha trabajado en el área de sistemas como Gerente de Sistemas en Conservas Isabel, en el área operativa como Gerente Operaciones en Univensa, en la parte administrativa ha sido Gerente General de Disproducsa y en el área de auditoria de sistemas se ha desempeñado en Banco Guayaquil y Consorcio Nobis, esta última empresa es donde actualmente trabaja hace 18 años como Auditor de Sistemas Corporativo.

Sergio Pozos Ceballo, University of Havana

Doctor en Ciencias Contables y Financieras (2014), Máster en Contabilidad (2003), Licenciado en Economía (1993). Se desempeña como jefe de la Disciplina Auditoría en el departamento docente de Contabilidad y Auditoría de la Facultad de Contabilidad y Finanzas. Ha participado como tutor, oponente y tribunal en trabajos de diploma, tesis de maestría y de doctorado. Forma parte del Tribunal del Doctorado en Ciencias Contables y Financieras. Es autor del libro de texto “Sistema de Control Interno” y coautor junto al MSc. Ángel J. Hernández de los libros de textos “Auditoría. Selección de temas” y de “Auditoría financiera. Selección de temas”, ha publicado artículos científicos en revistas nacionales e internacionales, ha participado como ponente y conferencista en eventos nacionales e internacionales celebrados en Cuba, México y Ecuador.
