Abstract

This paper addresses a novel issue for the Cuban business system, referred to the appearance of new economic actors in the form of micro, small and medium-sized companies, whether private, state, or mixed, in correspondence with the economic model approved for the country and endorsed in the constitution of the Republic of Cuba. The appearance of MSMEs as part of the Cuban business network, affected by a deep global crisis and by evident internal limitations that have an impact on low productivity and weak competitiveness, supposes responding to a cardinal problem stated in how to get these actors to contribute to growth. Economic in complex scenarios, tempered by financial restrictions and the urgent need to specify sustainability in municipal territories. In this sense, the work presented has the objective of analyzing the main limitations that these organizations have faced in their first year of existence in the Florida municipality, and from this, to visualize their role in the territorial scenario beyond an economy of subsistence, understanding the role of these actors as entities with important roles in territorial economic growth and development
