Circular economy project. Experiences and good practices of sustainability in the company “CEPIL” of Ciego de Avila
Keywords:
circular economy, reuse, revaluation, non-conforming productionAbstract
In contexts of accentuated resource limitations, the application of the circular economy approach is an alternative for developing countries. The difficulties of access to sources of financing for the acquisition of raw materials, supplies and spare parts, place the Cuban industry -and particularly the one dedicated to the transformation of plastic-, in a situation that demands a culture of reuse, revaluation and recycling within their production processes. The present work has the objective of characterizing practices of reuse and revaluation of non-compliant technology and production, from a circular economy project, for the sustainability of the management in the UEB "Fabrica de Cepillos" of the Company "CEPIL" in Ciego de Avila. Use methods and tools such as document analysis, the histogram, the Ishikawa diagram and the checklist using the DELPHI method or expert criteria. In the year 2022, the application of the circular economy project in the aforementioned UEB shows as results: 1) the recovery and implementation of technology that contributes to the production process; 2) the increase in profits from the reuse and revaluation of non-conforming production of brooms and brushes; 3) the reduction of waste emissions from the production process to the environment and 4) the reduction of the effects of work interruption on workers. The results show the commitment of the UEB, with the policies and demands for improvement of the state sector for the updating of the Cuban economic and social model.
